PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT
Trees play an important role in our landscape and the retention of key trees in the development process is important. A local authority planning department can refuse to validate an application that is not submitted with a BS5837 survey (trees in relation to construction 2005). This document seeks to provide a harmonious relationship between trees and buildings. Meadowcroft Arboricultural Consultants provide expert advice on trees in relation to development to asist in obtaining planning permission where trees are a constraint.
High Hedges
The High hedges act 2005 was tagged on to the back of the Anti Social Behaviour Act 2003. A high hedge is any evergreen or semi evergreen hedge which is 2m or more in height and two or more trees in a line . We can advise on high hedge issues and provide advice on the height a hedge should be using calculations and guidelines from the Department for Communities and Local Government.
Site feasibiity assessment
A site feasibility assessment is a survey undertaken to determine whether a site is feasible for development, identifying the constraints that trees pose to a site and the protective aea they require for development. This is a useful report to have before considering whether to apply for full planning permission.
Tree Preservation Orders
Tree Preservation Orders prevent any works being undertaken to trees without the consent of the Local Authority. We can provide advice and reports for the submission of an application to the Local Authority with a professional view to help secure consent for works.
Conservation areas
A conservation area is an area of special architectural or historical interest. Similarly any works to trees cannot be undertaken without notifying the Local Authority and giving them six weeks notice of what is intended. This gives the Local Authority a chance to determine whether a tree needs to be made the subject of a Tree Preservation Order. We can provide advice on good arboricultural management to trees for notifying the Local Authority.reducing the need for them to preserve the tree in question.
Planning site supervision
Meadowcroft Arboricultural Consultants provide a supervision service where Local Authorities require certain works on devlopment sites to be supervised. We will record the work which has been done and submit these to the local authority for their file.
